Her Majesty’s Theatre announces renaming in line with King’s Coronation

As previously speculated, it has been officially confirmed that Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End, home to The Phantom of the Opera, will be renamed His Majesty’s Theatre on 6 May, to mark King Charles III’s coronation.

The historic decision to change the name of the LW Theatres-owned venue has been permitted by the UK Cabinet Office and King Charles, via the Lord Chamberlain’s Office; a precedent that began when the first theatre was built on the site in 1705.

The venue was previously named His Majesty’s between 1901-1952, before changing when Queen Elizabeth II assumed the throne.
