Headlong have announced their 2022 season today, the first under new Artistic Director Holly Race Roughan, who will direct two of the season’s productions. 

The season will begin with the world premiere of Corrina, Corrina by Chloe Moss, a gripping thriller set at sea exploring the exploitation and dynamics on board a cargo ship. This is a co-production between Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, and runs at the Everyman from 19 May-4 June. 

Jitney by August Wilson will follow, opening at the Old Vic from 9 June-9 July before visiting Oldham, Worthing and Bath. In the autumn, Headlong will partner with Shakespeare’s Globe for the first time. It will present a new interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s great works, placing it in the context of the current social and political climate. The production will open at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse later this year. 

Holly Race Roughan said: “It has been no easy feat programming in a global pandemic, our industry has been brought to its knees by Covid and we collectively continue to fire fight it’s devasting impact. So it is a privilege to be able to announce a season of work in these times, work that speaks to the political movement, exploits the liveness of theatre and has the audiences – who we have sorely missed – at its heart.”
