Composer of Tony award-winning musical Hadestown pens new book

Fans of the Tony-award winning musical Hadestown will be overjoyed to hear that composer Anaïs Mitchell will be releasing a book about her journey in creating the music for the popular show.

Working on a Song: The Lyrics of Hadestown will be released on 6 October 2020 and explains Mitchell’s “more than a decade-long process of building the musical from the ground up - detailing her inspiration, breaking down the lyrics, and opening up the process of creation that gave birth to Hadestown.

“Fans and newcomers alike will love this deeply thoughtful, revealing look at how the songs from 'the underground' evolved, and became the songs we sing again and again."

Hadestown opened on Broadway in March 2019 and has been the recipient of eight Tony awards, including Best Musical.
