Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre 2021 season on sale
Storyhouse have announced that the 2021 events taking place at their multi award-winning Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre have gone on sale.
The theatre will now open on Saturday 29 May and remain open until Monday 30 August, with 110 shows being held between the late May and August bank holiday.
Glyn Maxwell’s adaptation of Kipling’s children’s classic The Jungle Book will run from 29 May-30 August, with Gitika Buttoo directing. Shakespeare’s farce The Merry Wives of Windsor will run from 4 June – 30 August, directed by John Young; then Deborah McAndrew’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s romantic comedy Pride and Prejudice will be performed from 9 July – 30 August, with Conrad Nelson directing.
Artistic director at Storyhouse, Alex Clifton, said: “We are promising another barn-raising summer of joy as we emerge into the summer! Merry Wives is a show which demands that you just turn off, sit back and giggle – it’s what we all need this year! Pride and Prejudice will hit all the sweet spots - as a romance and as a narrative. Jane Austen’s classic sense of humour is so delicious and still feels very potent. Whilst for kids and the young at heart The Jungle Book will be full of music, full of heart and a great homecoming story.”
