Due to the ongoing restrictions in the UK, producers of the new musical Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical have decided to postpone the world premiere.

Originally scheduled to hit the West End in May 2021, the new musical will now begin previews on 1 October 2021 with an opening night on 20 October 2021 at the Lyric Theatre.

Arguably one of the 20th century’s most influential entertainers and figures, Bob Marley’s music continues to inspire generations. The new production is set to celebrate his life with an electrifying night of music, one that the producers feel deserves a full house.

Set to portray Marley is writer and performer Arinzé Kene, whose most recent one-man play, Misty, ran at the Bush Theatre to widespread critical acclaim and transferred to the West End. For this show, he was nominated for two Olivier Awards – Best Actor and Best New Play. He can currently be seen in Been So Long, a Netflix Original feature film. Further casting has yet to be announced.

If you have already purchased tickets for the show, you will be contacted by the venue directly. Tickets are now on sale until 3 April 2022 and can be purchased here.

Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical is also partnering with the Black Ticket Project and will donate 1000 free tickets to the organisation in the first booking period.
