Further details revealed ahead of Olivier Awards 2020 virtual ceremony this weekend
Ahead of the special ITV programme this Sunday, further details have been announced about the upcoming Olivier Awards.
The show has predominantly been pre-recorded at the London Palladium and will celebrate both the winners and nominees, along with honouring those who have contributed significantly to the industry over the last 18 months.
Ian McKellen will be honoured in his 80th year for his Ian McKellen On Stage tour, which visited over 80 theatres around the UK, whilst Sharon D Clarke will perform a tribute to Don Black, who will receive the special award for his contribution to theatre.
Other performances include those from nominees Miriam-Teak Lee (& Juliet) and Sam Tutty (Dear Evan Hansen).
Society of London Theatre Chief Executive, Julian Bird, said: “This is not how we had originally planned to celebrate this year’s outstanding Olivier nominees, but like so many others we have adapted to these challenging times. I am thrilled that we have been able to safely pull together this programme that will hopefully engage and inspire audiences at home whilst reminding them of the talent and vibrancy within our theatre industry.”
The virtual ceremony will be hosted by Jason Manford and will be broadcast on Sunday 25 October at 10.20pm. You can even start the fun slightly earlier at 9.30pm on the Official London Theatre Youtube channel if you wish!
There will also be a highlights show on Magic Radio from 8pm on Monday 26 October.
