Full casting announced for world premiere of SYLVIA at the Old Vic

Full casting has been announced for the world premiere production of new musical Sylvia, which runs at London’s Old Vic from 27 January-1 April 2023.

Having previously enjoyed a preview run in 2017, this revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia Pankhurst – feminist, activist, pacifist, socialist, rebel – the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement, who changed the lives of working women and men across the world.

Leading the musical will be the previously announced Beverley Knight (Sister Act, The Drifters Girl) as Emmeline Pankhurst, with Sharon Rose (Hamilton, Jingle Jangle) as the titular character, Sylvia Pankhurst.

The cast also includes Kelly Agbowu as Mrs Drummond/Mrs Savoy, Verity Blyth as Clementine Churchill/Mrs Scurr, Bradley Charles as Lord Cromer/Richard Pankhurst/Alan, Kimmy Edwards as Emily Davison/Lillie Hardie/Mrs Watkins, Alex Gaumond as Keir Hardie, Jade Hackett as Lady Jennie Churchill/Mrs Payne, Todd Holdsworth as Silvio Corio, Stevie Hutchinson as Lloyd George/Lord Curzon, Kate Ivory Jordan as Mrs Parsons, Hannah Khemoh as Understudy Emmeline Pankhurst, Sinead Long as Ensemble, Jaye Marshall as Ensemble, Kandaka Moore as Mrs Parsons/Sophia Singh, Antoine Murray-Straughan as Ensemble, Razak Osman as Harry Pankhurst/Sir Almroth Wright, Jay Perry as Winston Churchill/George Lansbury, Sharon Rose as Sylvia Pankhurst, Kirstie Skivington as Adela Pankhurst, Ellena Vincent as Christabel Pankhurst, and Malachi Welch as Ensemble.

The production has a book by Kate Prince with Priya Parmar, music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, lyrics by Prince, direction and choreography by Prince, set and costumes by Ben Stones, lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tony Gayle, video and animation by Andrzej Goulding, co-musical supervision by Mark Dickman and Leonn Meade, and casting by Stuart Burt and Oliver Scullion.

The show also features dramaturgy by Lolita Chakrabarti, additional music by Prince, additional lyrics by Tachia Newall, music production by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, and musical direction by Sean Green.
