Full casting announced for world premiere of new comedy BACKSTAIRS BILLY
Full casting has been announced for the world première of Marcelo Dos Santos’ new play Backstairs Billy, which begins previews at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre on 27 October.
Backstairs Billy looks at a pivotal moment in the 50 year relationship between the Queen Mother and her loyal servant William “Billy” Tallon.
Joining the previously announced Penelope Wilton as the Queen Mother and Luke Evans as Billy, are Emily Barber (The Cost of Living, Hampstead Theatre) as Annabel Maud/Lady Astlebury, Iwan Davies (The Corn is Green, National Theatre) as Gwydion, Ian Drysdale (A Doll’s House Part 2, Donmar Warehouse) as Kerr, Ilan Galkoff (Leopoldstadt, West End) as Young Billy, Eloka Ivo (Black Superhero, Royal Court) as Ian, Michael Simkins (The Unfriend, West End) as Mr Harrington-Bahr/Hugo McCoyd, and Nicole Sloane (September in the Rain, Wiltshire Creative) as Mrs Harrington-Bahr/Lady Adeline, with David Buttle, Amy Newton, Keanu Adolphus Johnson, Georgie Rhys and Jacob Ethan Tanner.
The production is directed by Michael Grandage, with set design by Christopher Oram, costumes by Christopher Oram and Tom Rand, lighting by Ryan Day, music and sound by Adam Cork, and casting by Jacob Sparrow.
