Full casting announced for UK premiere of MARJORIE PRIME at Menier Chocolate Factory
Full casting has been announced for the UK première of Jordan Harrison’s Marjorie Prime, playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 3 March-6 May.
Directed by Dominic Dromgoole, the production stars Nancy Carroll (After the Dance, National Theatre) as Tess, Richard Fleeshman (Company, West End) as Walter, Tony Jayawardena (The Father and The Assassin, National Theatre) as Jon, and Anne Reid (Last Tango in Halifax) as Marjorie.
In this richly spare, wondrous play, Jordan Harrison explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits — if any — of what technology can replace.
It’s the age of artificial intelligence, and 85-year-old Marjorie — a jumble of disparate, fading memories — has a handsome new companion who’s programmed to feed the story of her life back to her. What would we remember, and what would we forget, if given the chance?
Marjorie Prime has set and costume design by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Emma Chapman.
