Full cast announced for world premiere of (THIS IS NOT A) HAPPY ROOM at King’s Head Theatre

Full casting has been revealed for the world première of (This is not a) Happy Room, which plays at London’s King’s Head Theatre from 26 March-27 April.

Written by Rosie Day and directed by Hannah Price, the cast includes the previously announced Amanda Abbington as Esther and Rosie Day as Elle, alongside Andrea Valls (professional stage debut) as Laura and Jonny Weldon (101 Dalmatians, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) as Simon, with the company completed by Jazz Jenkins (Fabulous Creatures, Arcola Theatre) as Hayley, Tom Kanji (Twelfth Night, Orange Tree Theatre) as Charles, and Alison Liney (professional debut) as Agatha.

Producer Katy Galloway said: “I’m thrilled to be announcing the incredible cast that we have for (This is not a) Happy Room. As a producer I love to bring incredible new writing to the stage, and I am very excited for audiences to get to enjoy this deviously dark comedy.”

Meet the Hendersons, a happily dysfunctional family, reuniting for their dad’s third (or fourth?) wedding. Nobody expects the death of his bachelorhood to become an actual funeral… but it would be a waste of the buffet not to repurpose it, right?

Joining Rosie Day and Hannah Price on the creative team are sound designer Adrienne Quartly, lighting designer Rory Beaton, and set and costume designer Georgia de Grey.
