Full cast announced for ROMEO AND JULIET at Shakespeare's Globe
Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the cast of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes, which launches the summer season from 25 April-2 August in the Globe Theatre.
The cast comprises Marcus Adolphy as Lord Montague/Apothecary (Closure, Theatre Royal Windsor), Rawaed Asde (Nightsleeper, BBC) as Tybalt, Roman Asde (Gigi & Dar, Arcola Theatre) as Benvolio, Michael Elcock (The Little Mermaid, Bristol Old Vic) as Mercutio, Léa des Garets (GEORGE, Omnibus Theatre) as Lady Capulet, Josh Gordon (recent graduate) as Sampson/Cover, Colm Gormley (An Interrogation, Hampstead Theatre) as Lord Capulet, Niamh James (To Kill A Mockingbird, West End) as Abram/Cover, John Lightbody (The Lost Disc, Soho Theatre) as Friar Lawrence, David Olaniregun (Beyond Paradise, BBC) as Gregory/Cover, Joe Reynolds (recent graduate) as Paris, Jamie-Rose Monk ((the) Woman, UK Tour) as Nurse, Dharmesh Patel (Dr Strangelove, West End) as Prince/Peter, Abdul Sessay (Sweat, Royal Exchange) as Romeo, and Lola Shalam (Gigi & Dar, Arcola Theatre) as Juliet.
Director Sean Holmes said: “We have a really exciting cast containing a great combination of youth and experience and I can’t wait to start rehearsals on this beautiful monster of a play.”
Romeo and Juliet is designed by Paul Wills, with music composed by Grant Olding, fight direction by Maisie Carter, movement direction by Tamsin Hurtado-Clarke, intimacy direction by Bethan Clark, text consultancy by Si Trinder, voice coaching by Liz Flint, and casting by Becky Paris CDG.
