Full cast announced for WONDER BOY at Bristol Old Vic

Casting has been announced for Ross Willis’ Wonder Boy, which runs at the Bristol Old Vic from 5-26 March.

Directed by Sally Cookson, Raphel Famotibe will star as Sonny in his professional stage debut, with Juliet Agnes as best friend Roshi, Amanda Lawrence as Sonny’s teacher Wainright, Ramesh Mayyappan as his fantasy hero Captain Chatter and Jenny Fitzpatrick as Mum/Fish.

The show, which explores one boy’s search for his own voice and identity, was first presented at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2019 and director Cookson was determined then to bring it to the Old Vic. She said: “I saw the workshop production of Wonder Boy and was blown away by the writing. I’ve never seen a piece of writing like that before. Ross is a unique writer with a completely individual voice. It felt so important to tell this story at Bristol Old Vic.”
