Frozen London delayed until April 2021 but additional casting announced
The eagerly anticipated London production of Disney’s Frozen has been postponed until April 2021, in light of the ongoing pandemic.
The show was scheduled to open in October 2020 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane but will now receive its opening night on 14 April 2021, with previews starting on 2 April.
Existing bookings will be automatically transferred to an equivalent date five months in the future with the same seats retained, as explained in an email being circulated to ticketholders. However if the new date is not suitable, bookers are entitled to request an alternative date, receive a Frozen credit (valid for 18 months) or a refund.
Frozen will be directed by Michael Grandage with choreography by Rob Ashford, design by Christopher Oram, lighting by Neil Austin and sound by Peter Hylenski.
In welcome news however, the complete Original London Company (joining the aforementioned Stephanie McKeon and Samantha Barks, as Anna and Elsa respectively) has now been announced:
Obioma Ugoala has been cast as Kristoff, Craig Gallivan will portray Olaf, Oliver Ormson will play Prince Hans, Richard Frame will play Lord Weselton, with Ashley Birchall as Sven.
Additional cast members include Joshua St. Clair, Lauren Chia, Cameron Burt, Izzy Snaas, Monica Swayne, Jason Leigh Winter, Hannah Fairclough, Emily Lane, Gabriel Mokake, Emily Mae Walker, Jeremy Batt, Leisha Mollyneaux, Justin-Lee Jones, Jak Skelly, Jacqui Sanchez, and Jacob Maynard.
The Tony Award-nominated Broadway production opened in March 2018, featuring a book by Jennifer Lee and music/lyrics by husband and wife writing duo, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
