Fringe review: NOBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE, Jamie Finn - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Jamie has just been dumped for a man that goes to the gym. Jamie is a mess. Jamie needs to reinvent himself. Quickly! When American spin instructor and rock-n-roll powerhouse Lily takes him in and changes the course of his life, Jamie spends the next five years learning how to move forward. It feels like the fun will never end. But then what do you do when a friend breaks up with you?

Finn mixes his storytelling with comedy and original music as he takes us through his turbulent 20's, discovering that there is a way to mourn more than one type of relationship.

This whimsical struggle to figure out life and connections is delightful. As an audience, we cringe at all of the bad decisions we can see are about to happen but in the end, we feel protective of Jamie and just want him to be happy. The story moves at a good pace, hovering over the important details just long enough to empathise.

It is a story about the romance of platonic love set to a playlist any spin class would be proud of.

We can understand why Nobody's Talking About Jamie, they're too busy laughing!

A great spin on maturing ungracefully.

**** Four stars
