Free Encore Stream of The Sound of Music Live! this Friday
We hope you enjoyed your journey to Neverland with Peter Pan Live! last week. The Shows Must Go On has certainly been keeping us sane during this lockdown, even if the musicals are only available for 48 hours. But due to high demand, this Friday you can watch an encore
screening of The Sound of Music Live! which is perfect for those who may have missed it a couple of weeks ago.
Best known for it’s 1965 version with Julie Andrews, The Sound of Music debuted on Broadway 61 years ago. Inspired by a true story, Maria is a young governess who takes a job looking after the Von Trapp family in 1930’s Austria. It’s one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved musicals, having been performed all over the world, and NBC’s version even kick-started the trend of live TV musicals.
Broadcast back in 2013, Carrie Underwood (of American Idol fame) stars as Maria alongside Audra McDonald, Stephen Moyer, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle. It went on to be nominated for several Emmy Awards and won for its technical direction.
The Sound of Music Live! will be streamed at 7pm on Friday 26 June on The Shows Must Go On YouTube channel. The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organisation will even be hosting a live viewing party via their Twitter and Instagram pages, which you can join by using #SoundOfMusic!
