France allows events to proceed without social distancing

France will be allowing events to go ahead without social distancing, it has been announced.

The country's Prime Minister, Jean Castex, said: "to govern is to know how to adapt to circumstances", and that French citizens should learn to "live with the virus". This statement and further policy was then confirmed on Twitter by France’s Culture Secretary.

It has been agreed that an audience of up to 5,000 people will be permitted to sit next to one another at an event, but must wear face coverings at all times. However, this will not be allowed in localised hot spots where the virus has a higher rate of transmission.

Any events with attendees over 5,000 are still banned until at least November.

The French PM has also pledged €2 billion support for the arts and culture sector, in a similar arrangement to the UK.

Let's hope we are able to follow suit shortly, Besties!
