Four Welsh Arts festivals join forces to stage free online festival Gywl 2021
It has been announced that Festival of Voice, FOCUS Wales, Other Voices Cardigan and Aberystwyth Comedy Festival have joined forces in lockdown to create Gwyl 2021, a free online festival that will feature music and comedy.
Gwyl 2021 celebrates the determination and resilience of the creative scene in Wales and was captured over recent months in Wales and on an international scale, all created with Coronavirus guidelines in place. It will be available online on 6-7 March 2021.
The festival will be a celebration of both established emerging talent from Wales and further afield, with the line-up including Tim Burgess’ Listening Party, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Catrin Finch, BERWYN, Arlo Parks, Jordan Brookes, Jaffrin Khan, Ani Glass, and Faith to name but a few. There will also be special episodes of podcasts Welcome to Spooktown and I Wish I Was an Only Child featuring guest appearances from famous faces.
Artistic Director of Wales Millennium Centre, Graeme Farrow, said: “Festival of Voice has been the highlight of our calendar since 2016, and last year’s festival was shaping up to be no exception. The exciting and ambitious plans we’d made were dashed by the pandemic, but we’re all delighted to be able to work with such outstanding partners to deliver Gwyl 2021 in March. It brings together the very best of all four festivals, and our shared spirit of curiosity and passion for great performance. We hope it brings a bit of much-needed joy to audiences to blow away the cobwebs”.
Gwyl 2021 will be available to watch here on 6 & 7 March.
