Film reimagining announced for ISLANDER musical

Islander

It has been announced by Dundee Rep & Eden Court Highlands that a filmed reimagining of their critically acclaimed musical Islander is in the works.

This two-hander follows the story of Eilidh as she dreams of a new life beyond her island. In a collision of reality and myth, a stranger appears on her beach, changing her life forever. Kirsty Findlay and Bethany Tennick star as numerous characters, layering their voices using looping technology to create an expansive soundscape with a Scottish folk-inspired score.

This film version follows on from the show’s off West-End run and BBC Radio 4 adaptation. The Rep Studios reimagining to Islander for film will stay true to the show’s folktale score.

The film will be available to stream online from 29 August to 8 September, with tickets available here.
