The New York Times have reported that a film version of Follies is in the works.

The musical has a book by James Goldman and a score by Stephen Sondheim, which features iconic numbers such as ‘Losing My Mind’, ‘I’m Still Here’ and ‘Broadway Baby’.

New York, 1971. There’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves.

Follies originally opened on Broadway in 1971, with its most recent Broadway revival in 2011. It also received a revival in London in 2019 at the National Theatre.

A timeline for the film has not yet been announced.
