We’re about to enter the second lockdown of 2020 and it probably feels like the glimpse of “normality” with theatres starting to come alive has been taken away once again. It’s really tough and with the introduction of more shows going online, it seems like this will be the more traditional way of enjoying theatre for the foreseeable future. One organisation that is joining the move online with a brand new video-on-demand platform is the English National Ballet.

In response to the continuation of closures to venues and pauses to their programmes, the company have launched ENB at Home in order to bring ballet to the homes of people around the world.

For the video-on-demand platform, they’ve created a digital season of short works for camera from choreographers including Russell Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yuri Possokhov, Arielle Smith and Stina Quagebeur. The work has been created, rehearsed, and performed by Company dancers in the English National Ballet’s East London studios within COVID secure guidelines.

ENB at Home will also host ballet content beyond the stage, including Le Corsaire and Akram Khan’s Giselle, both of which were recorded specifically for the screen, and selections from their archives. There is also a subscription-based class programme featuring ballet classes, yoga and fitness sessions.

Artistic Director of ENB, Tamara Rojo, is delighted to be releasing this new platform for the company: “I’m thrilled that not only will we have new pieces by renowned choreographers to share with our audiences, but that even in these challenging times we are also continuing to support young talent too. I can’t wait to see what they create.”

Head over to ENB at Home to enjoy dance from the comfort of your home!

ENB at Home’s exciting digital season will premiere in November and December 2020.
