Emma Thompson reveals NANNY MCPHEE musical will open in West End in 2023

Emma Thompson might just be the busiest woman on the planet. Not only is she currently promoting the Matilda musical film where she plays Miss Trunchbull, she is also planning a musical stage production of Nanny McPhee, based on the 2005 film that she wrote and starred in.

In an interview with The New Yorker, Thompson revealed that the musical (in which she intends to write the book, co-write the lyrics and direct) is "scheduled to open in the West End in 2023."

The stage production has music by Gary Clark (Sing Street) and is said to have a “Victorian punk sound”.

Further information such as dates, venue and creative team will be announced in due course.
