Taron Egerton & Jonathan Bailey to lead West End revival of COCK

Egerton and Bailey

It has been announced that Taron Egerton and Jonathan Bailey are to lead a West End revival of metrosexual play Cock by Mike Bartlett, running at the Ambassadors Theatre for a limited 12-week season from 5 March 2022.

Directed by Marianne Elliott, the new production will also star Jade Anouka and Phil Daniels.

When John takes a break from his boyfriend, his accidentally meets the girl of his dreams. Filled with guilt and indecision, he decides there is only one way to straighten this out…

This is a play about love and longing and asks questions about who we are and who we want to be. John’s refusal to fix his identity disturbs and disrupts the lives of those around him in this contemporary tale of sex without nudity and struggle without violence. Mike Bartlett’s punchy story takes a playful, candid look at one man’s sexuality and the difficulties that arise when you realise you have a choice.

Marianne Elliott said  ‘I feel so excited to be working on this beautifully crafted and hilarious play by Mike Bartlett. It keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. A truly theatrical piece in that it asks the audience to enter the imagination of the storytelling - as only live theatre can do. It’s also all about the acting so to have such a talented, highly experienced, stellar cast is an absolute dream!’

Mike Bartlett added:  ‘I love Marianne Elliott’s work and have done for a long time, so I’m thrilled to be able to collaborate with her on this revival. Especially with this incredible cast, which I know will bring both a fresh take and vast experience to a play about love, identity and the passionate human being.”

Produced by Elliott & Harper Productions, the creative team includes designer Merle Hansel, lighting designer Paule Constable, sound designer Ian Dickson, and composer Femi Temowo.

Tickets go on sale at 10am this morning (24 September) here.
