Donmar Warehouse announces full cast for world premiere of BACKSTROKE

Full casting has been announced for the world premiere of Anna Mackmin’s new play, Backstroke, which runs at the Donmar Warehouse from 14 February-12 April.

Joining the previously announced Tamsin Greig as Bo and Celia Imrie as Beth are: Lucy Briers (Orlando, West End) as Carol, Anita Reynolds (The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare’s Globe) as Jill, and Georgina Rich (Richard III, Arcola Theatre) as Paulina. Chloe Hart and Rhashan Stone also feature in filmed scenes within the production.

Bo is busy - balancing the pressures of work and the needs of her struggling daughter. When her mother, the irrepressible force-of-nature Beth, is admitted to hospital following a stroke, the practical realities of the present collide with the complexities of their past.

Imrie and Greig play mother and daughter in this kaleidoscopic and compassionate new play, written and directed by Anna Mackmin.

The production is designed by Lez Brotherston, with lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Christopher Shutt, video design by Gino Ricardo Green, choreography by Scarlett Mackmin, and casting by Anna Cooper CDG.
