Disney announces exciting upcoming plans including further casting for live-action Little Mermaid

Disney has announced further details on upcoming projects, including an update on the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

Further casting has been announced for The Little Mermaid to include the previously announced Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Javier Bardem as King Triton and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

The film has a screenplay by David Magee and will be directed by Rob Marshall. Original music by Alan Menken will feature, along with four new songs which are being penned with Lin-Manuel Miranda.

It has also been announced that a new Moana comedy series is in development, along with a follow-up sequel series to The Princess and the Frog (both for Disney Plus), a Hocus Pocus and Enchanted sequel, a live-action Pinocchio film adaptation (starring Tom Hanks) and a new Sister Act film. It has also been revealed that British star of stage and screen Fra Fee will appear in the new Hawkeye series from Marvel.
