Digital adaptation of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST announced
A new digital production of The Importance of Being Ernest has been announced for this Spring, co-produced by The Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield and The Dukes, Lancaster.
The Oscar Wilde classic has been adapted by radio broadcaster, writer and performer Yasmeen Khan, and is directed by Mina Anwar (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Shameless, Doctor Who). Holly Pigott will design the set and costumes, with further creatives and casting yet to be announced.
The digital production will be filmed on location at both The Lawrence Batley Theatre and The Dukes, and will combine elements of live theatre, radio play, and film.
This updated version of Wilde’s comedy has been moved up North where we meet struggling actor Jamil and rom-com star Algy as they look to find love and acceptance on the cobbles.
The show will be available here from 19 April - 4 May.
