The full line-up has been revealed for Leicester Curve’s Community Day on 14 November, along with details of a family friendly Christmas show taking place at the venue in December.

The Community Day will run from 10am-4.30pm and will include a range of socially distanced free events and activities around the building, of which tickets need to be booked in advance.

A free dance workshop for all ages and abilities will be held at 10am, led by legendary choreographer Arlene Phillips. In keeping with the dance theme, Curve Associates Mel Knott and Tasha Taylor Johnson will then teach families to sing and dance the ‘Rhinos’ Rock and Roll’ number from recent Curve production, Giraffes Can’t Dance, later in the day.

Free design workshops with a focus on mental health and environmental sustainability will be held by local artists, Rebecca Harvey-Hobbs and Kate Unwin, which will enable participants to create and craft their own pieces.

The Showstoppers Kids Show returns to Curve, allowing children to take control of the antics onstage at 11.30am and 2.30pm in the venue’s specially adapted auditorium. Tickets cost £10 each to watch the show.

Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said: “We couldn’t be more overjoyed at the prospect of welcoming our communities back to Curve for this very special, socially distanced day of activities and performances.

“Lockdown has taken its toll on everyone and the extension of Leicester’s restrictions has been sharply felt in our brilliant city and across our communities. We’re proud to be able to welcome people back to our building for a safe, fun and creative day out for all of the family, focusing on positivity and mental well-being.

“We’re immensely grateful to the incredible practitioners leading these workshops and all those who will be part of creating what is sure to be an extraordinary and memorable day for all of us.”

In addition to the above, Christmas family show Dear Santa will run at Curve from 3-6 December. Based on Rod Campbell’s book, the story follows Santa as he tries to find the perfect Christmas present and to help spread cheer. Every child in the audience will receive a free gift as part of the show. Tickets are now on sale to Curve Friends and supporters, with members and access register customers available to book on Thursday 29 October, before going on general sale on Friday 30 October, all from 12pm.
