Gavin Creel and Aaron Tveit to reunite for MCC Theater’s MISCAST21

MCC Theater have announced that Tony Award winner Gavin Creel and Tony Award nominee Aaron Tveit will reunite for a brand-new duet for Miscast21, premiering on Sunday 16 May 2021 at 8pm ET on MCC’s YouTube Channel.

A pre-show featuring a look back at iconic performances from previous Miscast galas will begin at 7.30pm ET. The broadcast will remain available until 11:59pm ET on Thursday 20 May 2021.

Creel and Tveit previously performed the duet ‘Take Me or Leave Me’ from RENT at the 2016 Miscast Gala. The pair join a star-studded line-up including Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford, Melissa Barrera, Tony Award nominee Robin de Jesús, Tony Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry, Leslie Grace, Cheyenne Jackson, Jai’Len Josey, Tony Award winner LaChanze, Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara, Tony and Emmy Award winner Billy Porter, Kelly Marie Tran and Tony Award and Golden Globe nominee Patrick Wilson.

Miscast21 will also feature appearances by McKinley Belcher III, Nick Blaemire, Sandra Caldwell, Juan Castano, Trip Cullman, Hugh Dancy, Halley Feiffer, BAFTA nominee Dominique Fishback, Golden Globe Award winner Jennifer Garner, Paige Gilbert, Academy Award nominee Lucas Hedges, Evan Jonigkeit, Grammy and Tony Award winner Alex Lacamoire, Donja R. Love, Zosia Mamet, Emmy and Tony Award winner Laurie Metcalf, Emmy, Grammy, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ana Nogueira, and Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei.

The event sees direction as musical supervision by Will Van Dyke (Little Shop of Horrors, Pretty Woman).

Miscast is one of the most anticipated and exciting theatre events in New York each year. This spring, the biggest stars of stage and screen will once again take to the virtual stage to sing songs from roles in which they would not traditionally be cast, inviting theater fans from around the world to join in the celebration.  

Funds raised from Miscast21 help MCC Theater produce exciting new work Off-Broadway and support its Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as MCC’s literary development work with emerging playwrights. Donations can be made here.
