Channel 4 have announced that they will broadcast a satirical TV musical about Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew: The Musical is written by comedian Kieran Hodgson, who also stars as the Prince. The 60-minute show is described as a “send-up of the life and times” of the Queen’s second son.

Prince Andrew had to take a step back from royal duties due to his association with child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Prince also faced allegations of sexual assault, which he denies and which were settled out of court. In January this year, the Prince was stripped of his honorary military titles.

The musical will include a reimagining of the disastrous BBC Newsnight interview in November 2019 when the Prince discussed his ties with Epstein, and failed to show sympathy for Epstein’s victims.

The new musical will be aired as part of a season of shows called “Truth or Dare”, celebrating Channel 4’s 40 year anniversary and its “radical, irreverent and iconoclastic roots”. Dates are still to be announced.
