Casting call issued for children’s roles in UK tour of BEDKNOBS & BROOMSTICKS

A casting call has been issued for the two of the child roles in the upcoming UK tour of Bedknobs & Broomsticks.

Casting director Jo Hawes has taken to Twiiter for her search, stating that those interested must live within a 45-mile radius of London and be available for a six-month contract in addition to the rehearsal period. All diversities are welcome to apply.

Hawes is looking to cast the youngest of the three children, Paul, who can be a maximum of 4'6"; and Carrie (“on the cusp of growing up”) should be a maximum of 4'8".

Based on the 1971 film starring Angela Lansbury, the stage musical has a book by Brian Hill, original music and lyrics by the Sherman Brothers, new music and additional lyrics by Neil Bartram, orchestrations by Simon Hale, musical supervision by Tom Murray, co-direction by Candice Edmunds and Jamie Harrison, with Harrison also designing the sets and illusions, choreography by Neil Bettles, costumes by Gabriella Slade, sound by Gareth Fry and lighting by Simon Wilkinson.

Bedknobs & Broomsticks is scheduled to open at Newcastle Theatre Royal on 14 August 2021 before visiting Canterbury, Southend, Dublin, Milton Keynes, Woking, Norwich, Nottingham, Eastbourne, Manchester, Sheffield, Glasgow, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Dartford, Southampton and Edinburgh. The show will also enjoy a five-week festive season in Leeds next Christmas.
