Casting announced for THE MARRIAGE OF ALICE B TOKLAS at Jermyn Street Theatre

Jermyn Street Theatre has announced its casting for upcoming wedding farce The Marriage of Alice B. Toklas by Gertrude Stein, which runs from 17 March-16 April.

Written and directed by Edward Einhorn, the play tells the story of the wedding of the century. Picasso has arrived with one of his wives and two of his mistresses. Hemingway is also in attendance with his wife and favourite matador. At the top table are the brides Alice B Toklas and Gertrude Stein, with four actors playing over 30 characters.

Kelly Burke (Boys, Arcola Theatre) will take on the role of Picasso, Natasha Byrne (Not Going Out, BBC) will play Gertrude Stein, Mark Huckett (Quiz, West End) will play Hemingway and Alyssa Simon will reprise her role as Alice Toklas which she created in New York in 2017.

Jermyn Street Theatre Artistic Director Tom Littler said: “Two years ago, The Marriage of Alice B. Toklas by Gertrude Stein was about to go into rehearsal when theatres closed. So it’s a special pleasure that we could reassemble the entire creative team and cast. Edward’s play is funny, joyful and moving – and it tells the story of two remarkable women and the people in their literary circle.”

The creative team includes set designer Machiko Weston, costume designer Anna Lewis, lighting designer Ali Hunter and sound designer Mark Bruckner.

Tickets are on sale now online here.
