Casting announced for movie adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s 13

The cast for the upcoming Netflix film adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s 13: The Musical has been announced. 

The film, which follows the story of Evan Goldman, a teenager who has to grapple with his parents’ divorce whilst preparing for his Bar Mitzvah and navigating the complicated social circles of his new school following a move from New York to small town Indiana, is expected to start filming in Toronto in June this year. 

The cast is made up of fourteen young actors including Eli Golden, Gabriella Uhl, JD McCrary, Frankie McNellis, Lindsey Blackwell, Jonathan Lengel, Ramon Reed, Nolen Dubuc, Luke Islah, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Kayleigh Cerezo, Wyatt Moss, Liam Wignall and Khiyla Aynne. 

The film will be directed by Tamra Davis, with Robert Horn adapting the script based on the book he co-wrote with Dan Elish. Jason Robert Brown is set to compose new music for the movie.
