Casting announced for Disney’s musical stage adaptation of BEDKNOBS & BROOMSTICKS

It has been announced that Dianne Pilkington (Wicked, Mamma Mia!) will lead the company of the upcoming musical stage production of Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks, opening at the Theatre Royal Newcastle on 14 August 2021.

Pilkington will star as Eglantine Price, the role made famous by Angela Lansbury in the 1971 film, alongside Charles Brunton as Professor Emelius Browne, Conor O’Hara as Charlie, and Jacqui DuBois as Mrs. Holiday.

The cast will also include Mark Anderson, Georgie Buckland, Kayla Carter, Matthew Elliot Campbell, Jonathan Cobb, Sam Lupton, Rob Madge, Vinnie Monachello, Nathanial Morrison, Sadie-Jean Shirley, Robin Simoes da Silva, Emma Thornett, and Susannah ven den Berg.

Following its Newcastle dates, Bedknobs and Broomsticks will visit Canterbury, Southend, Dublin, Milton Keynes, Woking, Norwich, Nottingham, Eastbourne, Manchester, Sheffield, Glasgow, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Dartford, Leeds, Southampton, Edinburgh, Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester, Liverpool, Northampton, Plymouth, Wolverhampton, Hull and Belfast.

The stage production features original songs by the legendary Sherman Brothers, with new music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and a book by Brian Hill. It will be directed by Candice Edmunds and Jamie Harrison (who also designs the set and illusions), with choreography by Neil Bettles, costumes by Gabriella Slade, lighting by Simon Wilkinson, sound by Gareth Fry, orchestrations by Simon Hale and musical supervision by Tom Murray.
