Casting announced for digital revival of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
Full casting has been announced for Lawrence Batley Theatre and Dukes Lancaster’s upcoming digital revival of The Importance of Being Earnest, streaming online from 19 April-4 May.
Featuring in the piece will be Gurjeet Singh (Ackley Bridge) as Earnest/Jamil, Tom Dixon (Twelfth Night) as Algy, Mina Anwar (Everybody's Talking About Jamie) as Ms Begum, Nikki Patel (Coronation Street) as Gul, Zoe Iqbal (Ackley Bridge) as Safina and Melanie Marshall (Jane Eyre) as Miss Prism.
There will also be appearances by Divina De Campo from Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK, stage and screen actor Paul Chahidi, award-winning actor, comedian and writer Hugh Dennis, actress Harriet Thorpe (Absolutely Fabulous) and comedian Sindhu Vee.
This new version of Oscar Wilde’s classic has been adapted for the digital stage by writer, radio broadcaster and performer Yasmeen Khan, with direction by Mina Anwar. It will also feature set design and costumes by Holly Pigott, lighting by Douglas Kuhrt and sound by Dave Bintley.
