Casting announced for A STEADY RAIN at Old Joint Stock Birmingham

Casting has been announced for multi-award winning gripping crime thriller, A Steady Rain, for its limited engagement at the Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham from 16-19 October.

The exceptional duo starring in this production will be Steven Rostance (Noises Off, Theatre Royal Bath/UK tour) as Denny and Graham MacDonnell (False Accounts, Old Joint Stock) as Joey, who will bring the grounded and serious nature needed to bring this gripping and gritty police procedural thriller to life this Halloween season.

Joey and Denny have been best friends since kindergarten, and after working together for several years as policemen in Chicago, they are practically family: Joey helps out with Denny's wife and kids; Denny keeps Joey away from the bottle. But when a domestic disturbance call takes a turn for the worse, their friendship is put on the line. The result is a harrowing journey into a moral grey area where trust and loyalty struggle for survival against a sobering backdrop of pimps, prostitutes, and criminal lowlifes.

A dark duologue filled with sharp storytelling and biting repartee, A Steady Rain explores the complexities of a lifelong bond tainted by domestic affairs, violence, and the rough streets of Chicago.

Director Liam Alexandru said: “There are so many avenues we could take for our Halloween show this year, anything from your traditional gothic horrors to your lighthearted, almost panto-esque ventures. With a piece such as A Steady Rain, there's almost a real horror here that is inescapable. This isn’t a fantasy world full of make-believe monsters and heroes to save the day. It’s a story that is a little too close to the bone, where truth and justice doesn’t always win, set in the real world with elements of plot we see every day when we turn on the six o’clock news. This show perfectly compliments the other wonderful Halloween material coming to the Old Joint Stock and will no doubt leave the audience speechless and, perhaps, a little perturbed.”
