The Barn Theatre in Cirencester is preparing to bring a feast of myth, music and medieval slapstick to the Cotswolds this Winter for their annual Christmas theatrical production, a new twist on the classic tale of Robin Hood, called The True Adventures of Marian and Robin Hood.

The new take on the classic tale, which rounds out the theatre’s acclaimed 2022 Built by Barn Season, follows archer, swordswoman, and trick rider Marian as she joins forces with her childhood nemesis Robin to thwart her hapless husband-to-be, the Sherriff of Nottingham, and overthrow his evil protector, Prince John.

Alan Pollock returns for his fourth annual Christmas production with The True Adventures of Marian and Robin Hood from 21 November – 31 December, following the hugely successful runs of his previous festive adaptions of A Christmas Carol, Peter Pan and The Brothers Grimm Present: Cinderella. Dylan Townley also returns in an expanded role as Composer and Musical Director, having been Musical Director for last year’s The Brothers Grimm Present: Cinderella.

Francesca Goodridge, who directed last year’s production, will return as Director and Movement Director. The creative team will also include Jessica Brigham as Lighting Designer, Harry Smith as Sound Designer and Kaitlin Howard as Fight Director.

The full cast of The True Adventures of Marian and Robin Hood include Lauren Ava-Thomas (2020 Graduate) as Little John/Ensemble, Theo Diedrick (2022 Graduate, Runesical) as Will Scarlett/Ensemble, Catrin Mai Edwards (2020 Graduate) as Green Man/Ensemble, Rachel Hammond (Swallows and Amazons) as Alan a Dale/Ensemble, Izzy Neish (2020 Graduate, Rapture) as Marian/Ensemble, Emily Panes (The Brothers Grimm Present: Cinderella) as Much the Miller/King Richard/Ensemble, Ethan Reid (2022 Graduate) as Odo (Sheriff of Nottingham)/Ensemble and Alex White (The Comedy of Errors) as Robin Hood/Ensemble.
