Cast announced for A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS at Theatre Royal Bath and tour

Casting has been announced for Robert Bolt’s award-winning play, A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, which will be vividly brought to life at Theatre Royal Bath from 16–25 January 2025, before touring to Chichester, Malvern, Cheltenham, Oxford, Guildford, Canterbury, and Richmond.

The cast is led by Martin Shaw as Sir Thomas More, and Gary Wilmot as The Common Man, with Edward Bennett (Hamlet, RSC) as Thomas Cromwell, Abigail Cruttenden (Not Going Out, BBC) as Alice More, and Nicholas Day (Minder, ITV) as Cardinal Wolsey.

Completing the cast are Huw Brentall, Calum Finlay as Richard Rich, Orlando James as Henry VIII, Hari Kang as Attendant to Signor Chapuys, Asif Khan as Signor Chapuys, Annie Kingsnorth as Margaret More, Andrew McDonald, Sam Parks as Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, Sam Phillips as William Roper, Louisa Sexton as A Woman, and Timothy Watson as Norfolk.

Martin Shaw stars as Sir Thomas More – scholar, ambassador, Lord Chancellor and friend to King Henry VIII. Above all, he is a man of integrity, loved by the common people and his own family.

When Henry demands a divorce from Catherine of Aragon, clearing the way for him to marry Anne Boleyn, the staunchly Catholic Thomas is forced to choose between his loyalty and his own conscience, committing an incredible act of defiance for which he eventually pays the ultimate price…

A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS is directed by Jonathan Church, with set and costume design by Simon Higlett, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound by Paul Groothuis, composition by Matthew Scott, and casting by Gabrielle Dawes.
