Captain Marvel star & Arts Ed graduate cast in upcoming Matilda film

Captain Marvel star and Arts Ed graduate Lashana Lynch is to star as Miss Honey in the musical film adaptation of Matilda.

Previous rumours tipped Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer for the role in the film, produced by Netflix and Working Title, but Lynch is now in final negotiations to play the kindly teacher in the story.

Director of the RSC stage musical Matthew Warchus will also direct the film, with original playwright Dennis Kelly adapting the screenplay, featuring original music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.

Lynch could most recently be seen opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel and also has a major role in the upcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die.
