Cambridge Arts Theatre announces fantastic Autumn 2021 season
Cambridge Arts Theatre’s second season of shows since reopening promises to be thrilling! Going on sale on 31 August, the season is jam-packed full of famous faces, panto magic, Shakespeare, Pinter, and farce.
The venue is delighted to announce the return of its Christmas pantomime, which will be led by Cambridge’s favourite pantomime dame, Matt Crosby, as Widow Twankey in Aladdin. Further casting will be announced in due course.
Ronald Harwood’s renowned play The Dresser is one of a number of famed plays gracing the Cambridge stage, starring none other than Julian Clary and Matthew Kelly from 12 – 16 October. Other famous faces include Dame Penelope Keith in Stephen Wyatt’s Two Cigarettes in the Dark from 3 – 12 March and Griff Rhys Jones and Janie Dee in An Hour and a Half Late from 4 – 9 April. Directly following that is Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming, starring Matthew Horne and Keith Allen. Rufus Hound and Priya Kalidas star in a stage adaptation of 1970s television series The Good Life from 9 – 13 November, with Patricia Hodge and Nigel Havers taking to the stage in Noel Coward’s much-loved Private Lives from 22 – 27 November.
This season also features family favourites including David Walliams’s Gangsta Granny from 27 – 30 October and Michael Morpurgo’s beautiful Private Peaceful from 14 – 19 March. A spellbinding, magical puppet show for ages 3+ entitled Dragons and Mythical Beasts will run from 18 – 20 November and a cutting-edge reimagination of George Orwell’s Animal Farm will be showing from 8 – 12 February.
If you’re looking for a thrill, look no further than Hitchcock’s Dial M For Murder starring Tom Chambers, Diana Vickers, Christopher Harper and Michael Salami from 5 – 9 October. The next instalment in Peter James’ thrilling Roy Grace series, the world premiere of Looking Good Dead will star Adam Woodyatt from EastEnders from 31 January – 5 February. A hilarious stage adaptation of iconic movie thriller Fatal Attraction will also run from 25 – 30 April.
For musical lovers, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black’s Tell Me On A Sunday will star Jodie Prenger from 30 September – 2 October.
