Broadway-bound Britney Spears musical to receive world premiere in Washington DC

Once Upon A One More Time

The world premiere production of Once Upon a One More Time, featuring the songs of Britney Spears, will debut in Washington DC from 29 November 2021-2 January 2022, ahead of an anticipated Broadway run.

Presented by Shakespeare Theatre Company, the new musical (written by Jon Hartmere) was originally set to receive its premiere in Chicago but these plans were disrupted by the pandemic.

Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid and other classic storybook characters gather for their fortnightly book club, when — oh baby, baby! — a rogue fairy godmother grants their wish for a new story, by dropping The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps. The arrival of this new tome spurs a royal revelation: there is more to life than bird-made dresses and true love's kiss!

The musical will be directed and choreographed by Keone and Mari Madrid, with set design by Anna Fleischle, costumes by Loren Elstein, lighting by Sonoyo Nishikawa and sound by Andrew Keister.

Casting for the production is to be revealed.
