Brand new musical podcast launched to take listeners through A-Z of musicals
The debut episode of brand new podcast ‘The Show Show’ was launched on New Year’s Day; the first in a series of episodes exploring the A-Z and 1,2,3 of musicals.
Hosted by Tom Ling (The Cereal Café) and Geddy Stringer (A Christmas Carol, 9 to 5), ‘The Show Show’ will work its way through the Wikipedia list of musicals from top to bottom, discussing everything from the hits to the hidden gems.
Stringer said: “We thought we knew a lot of musicals. We were wrong. When we found the list, we couldn’t believe how long it was! So, we decided it would be a great idea to share it with people and give them a sneak-peek into as many musicals as we possibly could.”
The hilarious podcast covers a different show each episode and aims to introduce its listeners to new musicals or educate them further on those they are not so familiar with. Every week, the hosts discuss their favourite numbers and moments, fun facts, great audition songs, and finishes with an original song written in the style of the show. There is also the opportunity for listeners to send in their most embarrassing stage moments.
Ling said: “So many of us have been starved of theatre this year, so we wanted to re-ignite people’s passion for musicals and give them something to look forward to. Hopefully, our theatre curtains will rise before we make it to the end of the list!”
