Bradley Cooper & Carey Mulligan to star in Leonard Bernstein biopic

Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan will star in new Netflix biopic, Maestro, based on the life of composer Leonard Bernstein.

Best known for his iconic work on West Side Story, Bernstein has composed scores for numerous soundtracks and recordings of varying genres, which won him countless awards including 17 Grammy awards, 11 Emmy awards and a Tony.

Cooper will write, direct and star as Bernstein in the film, in a similar set-up to the critically acclaimed A Star is Born. Mulligan will star alongside him as Bernstein’s wife, Felicia Montealegre Cohn.

The film predominantly focuses on their complex 32-year relationship and has the full backing of the Bernstein’s children.

Filming will commence in Spring 2021 with the release date and further casting to follow.
