Birmingham Rep thanks key workers with £5 tickets for its Christmas show THE PLAY WHAT I WROTE

Birmingham Rep have announced that they will be offering key workers discounted tickets to see the first ever major new production of the multi-award winning comedy The Play What I Wrote, running at the venue from 27 November 2021-1 January 2022.

Starring Dennis Herdman, Mitesh Soni, Thom Tuck and a mystery guest star, this new production follows Sir Kenneth Branagh’s original production in paying homage to Britain’s finest and funniest ever double-act, Morecambe and Wise.

Just like the original Morecambe and Wise shows, there is a play within a play, and every show features a special mystery guest.  Previous mystery guests during the West End run have included Ralph Fiennes, Dawn French, Ewan McGregor, Glenn Close, Daniel Radcliffe, Kylie Minogue, and Sting.

The Play What I Wrote is directed by The Rep’s Artistic Director, double Olivier Award winner Sean Foley, who also co-wrote and starred in both the sell-out West End and Broadway productions.

He said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that our doors are finally open again, and we can bring this hugely successful comedy to Birmingham audiences for Christmas.  The last 18 months have been tremendously challenging for everyone, but we would never have got through it without the amazing efforts of all our key workers. The Rep is the city’s only theatre that makes its own productions, and as the new Artistic Director I wanted to make a show that could give something back to the City, and bring some sunshine too - this special offer is The Rep’s way of thanking Keyworkers for their dedication, sacrifice, and sheer hard work.”

Frontline NHS staff and key workers can book up to four tickets per household for the preview performances using the promote code KEYWORKERS.
