Belgrade Theatre Coventry announces complete Autumn/Winter 2021 Season

The Belgrade Theatre Coventry is delighted to announce its full Autumn/Winter 2021 Season, running from 1 September through to 5 March 2022, with a programme filled to the brim with drama, music and entertainment.

As part of the venue’s work to support Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, highlights include the world premiere of This Little Relic by Karla Marie Sweet, a metaplay about producing Ira Aldridge’s The Black Doctor, directed by one of the Belgrade’s three Co-Artistic Directors for 2021, Justine Themen. There is SeaView, a unique digital project in partnership with Strictly Arts based on an original idea by Corey Campbell, one of Belgrade's other Co-Artistic Directors for 2021. Lastly, in celebration of city of culture comes Kerbs, a world premiere in association with Graeae Theatre Company. 

The Belgrade’s Autumn Season is complete with a variety of previously-announced shows including Dirty Dancing, The Play That Goes Wrong, A Christmas Carol starring Harry Potter and Game of Thrones actor David Bradley, and brand-new musical The Ruff Tuff Cream Puff Estate Agency, co-produced with Cardboard Citizens for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021.

The Autumn season launches at the Belgrade with a series of one night music acts. From 28 August- 26 September, the Belgrade will play host to a variety of events as part of BBC’s Contains Strong Language - the biggest poetry and performance festival of new writing. 

Exciting news as part of the Belgrade’s Autumn and Winter season is that the theatre’s annual pantomime will be returning (oh yes it is!) and audiences can enjoy Beauty and the Beast with their families this year.

Emmie is a Learning Support Assistant in a primary school and online content creator from the East Midlands, but her heart most definitely lies within the theatre. She trained in Dance and this is where her love for writing began. Emmie launched her own blog, Carpe Diem Emmie, in 2014 and it continues to be a thriving hub for the best in the East Midlands, especially when it comes to the art scene there. Emmie is a self-confessed theatre obsessive and is thrilled to be part of the West End Best Friend team!
