BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to get the rock’n’roll treatment at City Varieties
City Varieties Music Hall invites you to be their guest this Christmas as Beauty and the Beast gets the Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto treatment from 26 November 2021 - 9 January 2022.
Making its welcome return to the legendary music hall, following last year’s closure due to the pandemic, this Christmas marks the 10th anniversary of Leeds’ favourite panto at The Varieties.
A very different format to the traditional Christmas pantomime, Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantos mix traditional elements of audience participation and corny gags with a jukebox full of classic rock anthems and chart-toppers, all performed live on stage by an ultra-talented cast of actor-musicians.
Beauty and the Beast: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto is written by Peter Rowe and directed by Rob Salmon, with musical direction by Dan de Cruz, design by Dawn Allsop, choreography by Sam Spencer-Lane, lighting by Tim Oliver, and sound by Simon Deacon.
The cast includes Grace Lancaster as Beauty (Baritone Saxophone, Alto Saxophone), Conor Mellor as the Beast (Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Keys), Simon Nock as Dame Bessie Bigbreaths (Tenor Saxophone, Percussion), Kenny Davies as Sir Peacock Beauregarde (Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Drums), James William-Pattison as Desperate Dan (Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Keys), Hannah Baker as Luxury (Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Bass, Keys), Hannah Price as Vanity (Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Electric Guitar, Keys), Lana Walker as Fairy Fortunate (Keys, Alto Saxophone, Percussion), Alice Gruden as Primp (Bass), and Timothy Roberts as Preen (Drums).
