Following five superb virtual concerts thus far, The Barn Theatre has announced the next two British musical theatre composers to be celebrated in their The Barn Presents series: Dominic Powell and Gus Gowland.

Powell is an actor, writer and composer who has enjoyed producing and premiering new writing at the Phoenix Arts Club, The Vaults, Cockpit Theatre, Park Theatre, Landor Theatre, Above the Arts and the Theatre Café on Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of the West End.

Gowland’s first full-length musical Pieces of String premiered in 2018 at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester. For his work on Pieces of String, Gus won The Stage Debut Award for Best Composer/Lyricist, and was nominated for a Writer’s Guild of Great Britain award for Best Musical Theatre Bookwriting. The show was nominated for the UK Theatre Best Musical Production award.

Hosted brilliantly as always by the venue’s producer Jamie Chapman Dixon, The Music of Dominic Powell will air on 8 August at 7.30pm BST, followed by The Music of Gus Gowland on 22 August at the same time.

The musical theatre stars performing in the concerts will be revealed at a later date.

The concerts will be released on the Barn Theatre’s Facebook and YouTube channels at the aforementioned times.
