Julie Atherton, Fra Fee & Tori Allen-Martin to join 2020 graduates at Chapter Next world premiere at Chiswick Playhouse
Three West End stars have been confirmed to join the previously announced 2020 graduates for the Chapter Next project, being held at Chiswick Playhouse on 23 & 24 October.
Project co-creator Tori Allen-Martin (The Season, Hair) will appear both nights, with Fra Fee (Les Miserables, The Ferryman) appearing on Friday evening and Julie Atherton (Avenue Q, Sister Act) on Saturday.
Whilst the socially distanced concert will still be going ahead, a live stream of both nights can also be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.
Fourteen brand new songs, written by Adam Gerber and Allen-Martin, will received their premiere at the concerts with eleven musical theatre graduates performing: Katie Burton, Elizabeth Chalmers, Samuel Daltry, George Davis, Adrianne Langley, Beth Mabin, Ciara Mackey, David Mairs-McKenzie, Amy Tom, Meesha Turner and Mati Zarini.
Allen-Martin said: “Adam and I have always been passionate about new writing and new talent. To give performers the opportunity to originate a song, really make it their own and have us make changes around them, so that they are left with a professionally recorded song, and hopefully filmed performance that shows them to the best of their ability is the kind of thing I would’ve jumped at when I was starting out.
“It can be so hard to be seen, and especially difficult to find your own voice in a world that moulds us into whatever came before. We hope that by working with these students and creating around them, we’ll really help them to access a part of themselves that feels truly authentic and give them great materials to showcase themselves with moving forward.”
