ANYONE CAN WHISTLE to be revived in London this Spring

Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents' Anyone Can Whistle is set to be revived at the Southwark Playhouse from 1 April-7 May, it has been announced.

Alex Young (She Loves Me, Sheffield Crucible; South Pacific, Chichester Festival Theatre) will lead the cast as Mayoress Cora Hoover Hooper in the golden age musical, with further casting to be revealed.

Anyone Can Whistle tells the story of a corrupt mayoress who fakes a miracle to revitalise her bankrupt town (through the resulting pilgrim trade) and the ill-fated romance between the rational nurse, out to expose the fraud, and the easygoing doctor who is determined to enjoy the chaos that it brings.

This new revival will be directed by Matthew Rankcom, with musical direction by Natalie Pound, choreography by Lisa Stevens, set and costumes by Cory Shipp, lighting by Alex Musgrave, and orchestrations by Charlie Ingles, with original orchestrations by Don Walker.
