Pose actress and human rights activist Angelica Ross will star as Roxie Hart in Chicago from 12 September to 6 November, it has been announced.

Ross will also be the first openly transgender woman in the role and one of the first to star in a leading role in a Broadway show.

The performance will mark the first time that Ross has appeared on Broadway. Known for her role as Candy in Pose, Ross is also the founder of TransTech Social Enterprises. She will take over the role from Bianca Marroquín.
