Andrew Lloyd Webber to take part in Covid-19 vaccine trials

Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andrew Lloyd Webber has certainly been busy over the past few months. Alongside continuing work on his new musical Cinderella, which is due to open next year at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, he has also been working to re-open the industry as soon as possible. Therefore, he has now volunteered himself for the Covid-19 vaccination trials taking place at Oxford University.

In a tweet, Lloyd Webber said: “I’ll do anything to prove that theatres can re-open safely.” Previously he has staged a socially-distanced trial show at the London Palladium and released a series of free musicals online via The Shows Must Go On. The latter of which raised thousands of pounds for struggling venues and freelance workers.

The university’s previous trials have already produced positive results and scientists have said that they are now taking the next step in its testing. However, there has been no indication that the vaccine is ready for mass production just yet.
