Casting has been announced for Simon Perrott’s Kissed by a Flame, which plays at The Pleasance from 2-11 February.

The cast features soap star Andrew Lancel (Coronation Street, The Bill; ITV) as Teddy, alongside Ian Leer (The Call, Rafael Killyan) who makes his stage debut as Jamie.

Kissed by a Flame is a window into the final months of a once- in-a-lifetime kind of love. Audiences will join Jamie as he explores his own grief, and the struggle in finding comfort and inner peace when coping with love and loss.

This romantic tragedy is directed by James Callàs Ball, with set and costume design by Jack Valentine, and lighting by Rebecca Lyon.

Inspired by events from Perrott’s own life, the writer’s hope is that anyone going through difficult  times can find solace in the play’s message. Having written the show back in 2017, Kissed by a Flame was his first published play and offers a sentimental insight into the soundtrack  of his life.

Director James Callás Ball said: “It is a play that celebrates life, it is an honest portrayal of grief and it shows the joyfulness of love. It is a romantic tragedy of our time.”
